| Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program's Youth Employment Initiative
About
Let's Go 2 Work is an ambitious undertaking that will pump $6 million in federal economic stimulus money into 23 Eastern Kentucky counties.
As part of Let's Go 2 Work, approximately 3,000 young people who meet income guidelines, ages 16-24, will be placed in summer jobs.
Let's Go 2 Work starts May 1. It is a summer program, but some placements will continue through the fall and some may even continue beyond that.
Private, public and non-profit employers are all eligible to participate in Let's Go 2 Work.
Let's Go 2 Work will pay the salaries of the workers for at least six weeks and will monitor the progress of the work onsite.
Let's Go 2 Work will prepare the young people for work with some basic workforce education and will monitor the young people while they are on the job to make sure things are going smoothly.
Young workers will spend their wages locally, thus pumping a large infusion of cash into local businesses which will help our communities prosper. |
